One of the best things about RAM trucks is that in addition to their fantastic workhorse abilities, you can take them almost anywhere. And while the base RAM 1500 has great off-road ability – especially if go with four-wheel drive – there are two trims in particular that are made for rugged terrain.
RAM 1500 Rebel
While the base RAM 1500 comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, the Rebel trim has a 5.7-liter V8 that generates 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for four-wheel drive, you will get 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, along with:
- Locking differential
- Skid plates
- Hill descent control
- Off-road-tuned suspension
- Tow hooks
- Two-inch lift kit
RAM 1500 TRX
You’ll find the most potent engine of the lineup in the RAM 1500 TRX. It’s a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. In addition to four-wheel drive, this truck comes standard with upgraded Bilstein shocks and a chassis and suspension system specifically tuned for off-road activity. The TRX also has a larger air filter, which is ideal when driving in very dusty terrain.
