Whether you need to pull a little or a lot, RAM trucks offer outstanding towing numbers. Learn about the capabilities of the three top models!
RAM 1500
The base engine in the RAM 1500 is a 3.6-liter V6 that will give you 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. There are three other engines to choose from:
- 5.7-liter V8: 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque
- 3.0-liter V6 diesel: 260 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque
- 6.2-liter supercharged V8: 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque
That base engine will let you tow up to 7,730 pounds. With the 5.7-liter V8, the tow rating is between 8,100 and 11,560 pounds. The 3.0-liter V6 diesel can tow up to 12,560 pounds. If you go with the 6.2-liter V8 (and a Quad cab), you’ll be able to tow up to 12,750 pounds.
RAM 2500
A 6.4-liter V8 that puts out 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. comes in the RAM 2500. The other option is a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-6 with 370 horsepower and 850 lb.-ft. of torque. The truck with the V8 engine can tow up to 14,370 pounds, and that increases to 19,010 pounds with the diesel engine.
RAM 3500
The RAM 3500 has the same base engine with the same specs as the RAM 2500. There is, however, another 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-6 available, and this one produces 400 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque. This can tow up to 37,100 pounds.
