The base engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 293 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. For more muscle, you can go with the 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. You’ll also get a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission with either engine. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but 4x4 is available, which is what you’ll want if you plan to take your vehicle off the road.
Off-Road Ability
Speaking of off-roading, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L performs exceptionally well when the pavement ends. To go along with the optional 4x4, consider opting for hill descent control, multiple transfer cases, skid plates, and a limited-slip differential. And with the adjustable air suspension system, you’ll get 10.9 inches of ground clearance, enabling your Jeep to ford up to two feet of water!
Space and Comfort
There is quite a bit of room for six people in the three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L. If you replace the standard second-row captain’s chairs with a bench seat, the passenger capacity goes up to seven. And if you’ll need to transport more cargo than people, you will love the cargo space specs: 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 46.9 cubic feet behind the second row, and 84.6 cubic feet with both back rows folded flat.
Tech and Safety
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes with a revamped infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. You will also get wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, HD and satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and USB ports.
